HIKERS AND RUNNERS come from all over the country to experience the abundance of trails in and around the Superstition and Usery Mountains. With nearly 10 miles of trails, Lost Dutchman State Park is a great family-fun spot; spend the day or CAMP overnight in their 134-space campground. Apache Junction is host to the Lost Dutchman Marathon each February, where runners enjoy the beauty of the countryside and the streets of the community along their run. LDM has been voted one of the top ten small marathons in the country.
In addition to our mountain activities, the City of Apache Junction boasts one of the best rated PARKS AND RECREATION Departments in Arizona. With a full schedule of activities for adults and children, the department oversees Prospector Park, Flatiron Community Park, Complex Park, Veterans’ Memorial Park, Little League Complex, Silly Mountain Park, Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center, Apache Junction Skate Park, and Rodeo Park Event Center.
